The tunic — a timeless silhouette that has weathered the whims of fashion trends, and whose history dates back to ancient Rome. For Tory, it evokes the spirit and glamour of the Seventies. “I always think of my mother and grandmother, who wore them when I was growing up,” Tory told us during our first-ever Tunic Issue. While exploring Paris’ famed Clignancourt flea market in the early aughts, Tory came across a vintage tunic, which still hangs, framed, in her office. In 2005, less than a year after launching the company, Tory wore a tunic when she appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, cementing its status as a brand signature.
