Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Beyoncé and Rihanna are household names. Journalist Lisa Robinson has interviewed them all. In her latest book Nobody Ever Asks Me About The Girls, Robinson explores four decades of conversations — more than one thousand interviews — with some of the most talented women musicians in modern history. Robinson paints never-before-seen portraits of her subjects and gives readers a behind-the-scenes look into the music industry.
To celebrate the launch of her book, Tory Daily asked Robinson to create a playlist inspired by Nobody Ever Asks Me About The Girls. “There is no way I could pick one favorite performer,” says Robinson. “Even if I were to list ten, it would be an incomplete list.” Who are we to set a limit? Below, nearly four hours of music from women artists, spanning genres and decades.
