The science behind ordering breakfast at Sqirl. You’ve seen the brioche toast before on Instagram, so start with that (or any toast for that matter), a sorrel pesto bowl, rhubarb lemonade and an iced matcha because, well, it’s LA.

You’ve heard it all before — Los Angeles is more of a sprawling suburb than a vertical city, and that cliché about traffic is more cold-hard truth. If you’re going to dip in for a day or so, it’s a daunting task to figure out where to get three square-ish meals that also represent a true cross-section of the city. Fortunately, we like to eat, so we’ve narrowed it down to the must-stop joints that not only sate every fussy palate but also represent the edible California bounty that social media dreams are made of.

Don’t be fooled by the name, Night+Market is also an excellent spot for lunch.  It bills itself as a natural wine bar disguised as a Thai restaurant so make sure to order a glass or three to pair with the crispy rice salad, fried chicken sandwich and party wings.

Dinner at Bavel: Come hungry! Order the duck ‘nduja hummus, coal roasted turnips and grilled market fish, with a side of malawach (that’s Bavel-speak for carbs).
